The Richard Stoute Teen Talent Contest

The first winners of the Richard Stoute Teen Talent Competition in 1977 were Melody Masters. The members of this group were the children of veteran entertainer, Lord Radio. Leonard Griffith, who was one of the Melody Masters, was at one time a Keyboard player with top local group Krosfyah

From it humble beginings at the Holiday Inn in 1977 the Teen Talent Competition has evolved into a major annual event, anxiously awaited by a wide cross section of Barbadians.

This premiere talent competition has become the nursery for entertainment in Barbados. Past winnners of the contest include Margaret Bovell, Irvine (Fatman) Weeks, Jan Gibson, Lemuel Waithe, Kim Derrick, Adrian Clarke, Rupert (Rupee) Clarke and Edwin Yearwood.

Other notable talents entered the contest over the years, and even though they were not the winner of the contest, one might certainly agree that these notable entrants are indeed winners today. Spice and company, William (Classic) Waithe, Ann Marie (Lady Ann) Stracker, Terencia Coward (TC), Romancia Murray, Carol-Ann Scantlebury and Soca Queen Alison Hinds, have all passed through the ranks of Teen Talent contest.
